Tuesday - ABC of Blackboard support

With Kate Boardman

Besides the first ten minutes of slides all about herself, this session was primarily a summary of all the different types of support that Kate or anyone else in the world has attempted to get users to respond and/or self-help. She also rated the effectiveness of each type. I'm not sure I really gained any new ideas about what to do though. Stuff we aren't really doing:

*Podcasts for staff - maybe 100 people on uptake for this at Bristol (though some are other university's staff)
*Blog about Blackboard - seems similar to bb-support tab we have
*Mini-case studies - we want some of these. Perhaps a starting structure would help staff out?
*Gifts - bookmarks, mouse mats, etc.
*Videos of faculty talking about how they use Bb

One idea which came to me in the session was having a building block in Blackboard where a lecturer just has to click a link in the Control Panel, and a support request is generated with their name, course id, etc. It would save having to email back and forth to get more information. Mary said that wouldn't be too hard for Colin to write up.
